About Howe

Welcome!

Dear Parents:

Howe Elementary Community School supports all children to feel safe physically, socially, emotionally, and academically. The school addresses students needs in holistic ways, taking into account their relationships, self-regulation, academic competence, and physical and emotional well-being. Learn more about our Community School.
In order for this learning to occur, we have been focusing on the following items that help to support each individual learner to be their very best:

  • We are a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) school.   Howe Huskies focus on creating a positive and engaging learning environment.  Our three areas of focus are: Being Respectful, Responsible and Safe.
  • Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy—Workshop Model.   Howe participates in the use of the latest and best researched-based literacy instruction to provide the same basic instruction to all students, and then provides support to meet each child at their individual learning level.  This model allows ALL students to be challenged and is designed to provide whole group, small group, and individual instruction for each child.  Our staff collaborates with colleagues using student data to make sure we are providing the seamless and quality instruction that each child deserves.

  • Mathematics.  Howe’s math program uses the district-adopted Bridges Math Resource.

  • Parent/Family Involvement.  Howe offers regular family events that focus on providing an opportunity for a positive family activity that revolves around learning.  These opportunities also provide students and families opportunity to get to know your student's friends and their families.

  • Family and School Connection.  We are always looking for families that are able to donate a little time.  We need help to pop popcorn, count milk caps and box tops, assist in the classroom, help at school events and other activities.  We could not do it without you. Reach out to our Community Schools Resource Coordinator to find ways to get involved!

  • Adopt an area of the school.   Classrooms have adopted areas of the school to assist with keeping the school clean and also teaching the importance of taking pride in your school.  Please help to support our efforts.
